I already reviewed this year the Omega Seamaster 300M grey dial and the Limited Edition Omega Seamaster 300M 50th Anniversary Of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". To make it short, I have been enchanted by these watches. Producing a white dial watch is a more challenging task because this color for a sport watch is more polarising. The only great white-dial watch, that really convinced me, was the Rolex Explorer II polar. Not the ugly 42mm diameter watch, but the 40mm watch, the one with the red GMT hand. The only weakness of this watch was the painted numerals on the metal bezel. They were losing colors. Watch enthusiasts could only dream about Rolex producing a Polar Explorer II 40mm with a ceramic bezel, especially a black one. Rolex did not hear them, but it seems Omega did. So here comes the Seamaster 300M white dial and black ceramic bezel. Does it work?

The Omega Seamaster 300M has a 42mm diameter and 13.5mm high stainless steel case. It is a bit bigger than the previous Seamaster models, but I would say it doesn't wear too large. In fact I find it wears smaller than its current size, thanks to the bending end links of the metal bracelet and the curvy shape of the rubber strap.

The dial arrangement is similar to the one of the other current Seamaster models. The indices are round, except at 3 and 9 o'clock, where they are rectangular and at 12 o'clock where the index is composed of two rectangles. The indices are surrounded by black-painted metal. A date window is located at 6 o'clock.

Let's now talk about the most interesting changes of the watch. The most obvious modifications are the dial color and texture. The Seamater wave pattern in engraved less profound than on the Seamaster grey dial. The wave pattern is now a subtle texture on the dial. The Zr02 ceramic composition is written on the dial, just below the central axis).

"Seamaster" is written on the white dial in red color just above the hand axis. In contrast all the other inscriptions are written in black color. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatments.

The watch has skeletonized black sword hands, reminiscent of the ancient Seamaster models. The Minute-hand has a triangular apex, whereas the hour-hand has a round apex. The black second hand adopts a lollipop shape, and its apex is painted in red color. Black, white and a bit of red... that is the color scheme of the Marvel Venom!

The second most obvious modification is the watch bezel color, it is now black. The unidirectional flat black bezel insert is made of polished ceramic, the graduations are filled with white enamel. The helium escape valve is conical and is located on the side of the case at 10 o'clock.

The watch is powered by a modern in-house co-axial 8800 caliber. This caliber has a master Chronometer certification, is antimagnetic and has a power reserve of 55h. The movement can be seen through a sapphire case back. The watch features hours, minutes, seconds and date complications.

The watch is available with a rubber strap or the traditional Omega steel bracelet, having five brushed links, two of those have polished lines on the sides.

To be honest, I was thinking after the awesome Omega Seamaster 300M grey dial and the new Limited Edition Omega Seamaster James Bond it would be nearly impossible to produce another interesting Seamaster 300M variation. I was wrong. The Seamaster Venom is another great realisation from Omega. I have to admit, I love the discontinued Rolex Explorer II Polar 40mm, and for me the Seamaster 300M White dial easily take the slot left empty by the Explorer. In fact it is not replacing it, it is proposing a more modern and elegant design. The combination of the white dial and the black bezel is striking. The black-white contrast between the dial, hands and bezel makes legibility of this watch the best from the Seamaster 300M.

The Seamater 300M white dial is more sporty and less dressy than the Seamaster 300M grey dial and the Seamaster 300M james bond. The movement of the watch is up-to-date, robust, accurate. Only the power reserve could be a bit longer, many watches are now offering 70h power reserve. Despite being a Seamaster 300M, it looks quite different from its sister variations, thanks to the less-deeply engraved dial and the contrasting black bezel - white dial; the Venom colors. Even the tiny touch of red colors fits the Venom scheme.
What are the alternative to this watch? If we are comparing diver watches, the Omega Seamaster 300M is watch more performant than a Submariner for a lot less money, at this price range it is a bargain. If we are comparing white dial watches, the Rolex Explorer II 42mm Polar is too ugbly to have a chance. Only the Explorer 40mm Polar could. But what would also be the point to jump into the vintage Rolex minefield to get a Rolex Explorer II 40mm with an old caliber and a fading bezel for twice the price of this Seamaster? I would not do it. The Seamaster 300M white dial has a fantastic sporty look, a high legibility. You can feel it is a true tool-watch, ready for adventure. No other possible conclusion, the Omega Seamaster Venom is the new champion of the luxury sport watches with white dial.
